But we live in the Ring of Fire! Both Mt. St. Helens and Mexico's Volcan del Fuego have spouted today, although Mexico has it decidedly worse. Mt. St. Helens spouted for all of 20 minutes, and it's mostly ash and smoke. The Volcan is spewing lava down it's 12,000 plus foot side, but officials aren't in too big a hurry to evacuate the sparse settlements around the volcano. I've seen reports of anywhere from 100 to 600 people living in the vicinity, but it's possible the lava track may avoid the populated areas.
Could the gods be angry this election year? Sobering thought...
